about

Just over a year since the release of his beloved single "Way Home Inside," extraordinary Russian composer Alex Pich presents his first EP on our imprint, "One Arrow, One Shot." It proves to be an evocative and, often, spellbinding collection of deep-progressive cuts.

The EP's eponymous track opens with an icy verve, rife with intricate percussive elements. Each aural current, including a mesmerizing swirl of vocal cuts and filtered arpeggios, feeds into the suspenseful, patiently crescendoing arrangement. The track reaches its emotional peak during its two main breakdowns, in which multi-layered, fully realized cinematic scores are revealed.

"Sansara" establishes itself in the early going as a slow-burning, after-hours number, pulsating against flickering lights. The listener's mental haze gradually begins to dissipate, as tight drums slice through its atmospheric exterior. Two exceedingly beautiful interludes, featuring dreamlike arpeggios and pads, allow the listener to ponder life's journey, thus far.

"Clash Of Civilizations" is another signature composition from the Russian phenom, centered on a vibrant, dynamic bassline that gradually builds into a revelatory main theme. The ornate synth lines in the song's latter half give this cavernous cut an indelibly uplifting feel.

Closing out the EP, "Lapis Lazuli" opens with an infectiously off-kilter groove, underpinned by an oscillating bassline. Distorted vocals and sensual pads imbue the soundscape with contemplative and provocative textures. The rhythm gently fades out at the song's midpoint, leading to a captivating melodic and vocal sequence. Ultimately, the arrangement lures us back into its erotic sway and concludes with a variety of beautiful, soul-stirring motifs.
